What Is a CHEERS Project Status Report (PSR)?

A CHEERS Project Status Report (PSR) is a one-page summary that helps Building Officials quickly verify a project’s compliance with the California Energy Code (Title 24). Available through the CHEERS Registry, the PSR outlines which HERS verifiable measures are required and whether they’ve been verified by a certified HERS Rater.

Why the CHEERS Project Status Report (PSR) Matters

Before the Building Department can approve a project and issue a Certificate of Occupancy, all required energy efficiency testing must be completed and properly documented. The PSR serves as a clear snapshot of that progress—so you know when you’re ready for final inspection.

What’s in a CHEERS Project Status Report (PSR)?

  • QR Code: Verifies authenticity with a quick scan
  • Project Summary: Includes the project name, address, permit number, and building department
  • Status Icons:
    • ✅ Green check = Complete
    • ❌ Red X = Incomplete or missing items

When both HERS Verifiable Measures and Overall Status show as COMPLETE, your project is good to go.

How to Access a CHEERS Project Status Report (PSR)

Once your HERS Rater finishes testing and updates the CHEERS Registry, the PSR becomes available for download. Simply log in to your CHEERS Registry account to download a copy or send the PSR directly to your Building Inspector.

The PSR confirms your project is inspection-ready—and makes it easier for Building Officials to verify energy code compliance quickly and accurately.
