The CHEERS® Rater support Program has three important goals.
First: We want to make sure that you have all the training and information you need to build your rating business
Second: We want to do everything we’re able to do to ensure that everyone who’s likely to influence your business is fully aware of the increasing need for energy efficiency and the value that you and CHEERS® bring to builders, contractors, homeowners, local building departments, and energy professionals throughout the state.
Third: We want to make sure you have the brochures and other sales support materials that can really help spread the word and build your business.
On another level, it’s all part of our effort to establish CHEERS® CERTIFIED as a meaningful and important signal to everyone. The way we see it, if Good Housekeeping can do it, so can we. It’s something worth working for!
Take a look at the materials working for you “out there”...and the materials that can help you build your business.
Note: to view these materials you’ll need Acrobat Reader (a free download from Adobe) and PowerPoint. If you have any trouble, please email us (info@cheers.org) and we’ll send you samples.
Reaching Your Builder Customers
Advertising
We’re advertising the importance and value that CHEERS® Certified Raters bring with them to every new home job site. In fact we’re reaching more than 6000 builders via the publication they read and rely on most: CBIA.
Sales Support
We’ve created a very effective Rater-to-Builder presentation that makes it easy to give your prospective builder customer solid reasons to work with you. It’s a quick show and can will help guide you through a new business “pitch.” All you need to do is add your thoughts as you talk along with it.
Promotional Support
We published this brochure to explain and show you the materials you can offer all your builder customers. Lawn signs, brochures, and racks to hold them, “CHEERS® Certified” stickers for the things you rate, etc. It’s a pretty solid program...and it points to CHEERS® Certified as a hallmark of the quality and thought a builder builds into every new home. If you can at least offer materials that help the builder sell, well, who’s he going to do business with?

Reaching Homeowners
Basic Brochure
If consumers are interested in lowering the cost of the energy they use, they’ll be interested in CHEERS® and CHEERS® certification. This brochure explains the importance of energy efficiency and CHEERS®. Incidentally, you can offer this brochure to all your builder customers.
HVAC Brochure
Not every homeowner owns a newly built home. In fact, energy industry estimates figure that about 400,000 California homes will have some HVAC work done in the year ahead. This brochure is designed for HVAC contractors to give to prospective customers. It’ll help the contractor establish credibility and value.
You can offer this brochure to your contractor contacts.
HVAC Advertising
Right now we’re developing a campaign that’ll reach homeowners who need HVAC work done. It leads them to contractors who will offer more than just a low bid on the job. It directs them to contractors who will get the job done right!
HVAC Contractor Brochure
HVAC contractors can be a tremendous source of business for you. So we’ve developed a brochure that points directly to a problem they have...and offers a solution. We think it makes sense to let them know that CHEERS® and CHEERS® Raters across the state are working with them.
Reaching Local Building Departments
Brochure
While you may never come in direct contact with a building department, we think it’s important for building departments across the sate to know that CHEERS® understand the issue they face and is trying to help resolve them. It’s all part of building the “brand awareness” that’ll help you gain more business. This brochure is being mailed to department and agencies.
A Last Thought
“Our overarching goal is to make CHEERS CERTIFIED® another Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval”
Reaching the goal is going to take time, money and money. Equally important will be the pride and aggressiveness with which we begin our marketing efforts. As the effort increases, we’ll learn that some things will work better than others. Which is to say, that everything CHEERS® does, every CHEERS® Rater, should point to a level of excellence, credibility and stature.
